Hiking in the area of 19th century romantics! Along the theme trail you will experience untouched nature, mountain streams, waterfalls, the glacier garden and information about the most important Romantic people who came to the Echerntal valley.
Starting from car park 2, next to the valley station of the Salzbergbahn cable car, you will walk along the forest stream through the picturesque settlement in the Echerntal valley, where old and traditional houses can be admired along the trail.Arriving at the pavilion, newly built by students of the HTBLA Hallstatt, the tour continues along the splashing stream accompanied by the display boards of famous painters and writers, such as Adalbert Stifter and Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller.
The artists already then appreciated the peace and pure nature in the Echerntal valley as inspiration for their works.
Passing the Simony monument, a branch to one of the most breathtaking natural monuments of our region - the glacier garden - is indispensable.
The glacier garden, a relic of the last ice age - from the glacier that retreated about 12,000 years ago - amazes every visitor.
Over time, the rock was ground out of the meltwater flowing from the glacier by the rock particles, so that glacial pots were formed.
After a longer rain period the glacier pots are filled with water.
After a 1.5 hour hike in a flat terrain through the flora and fauna of the untouched forest area you reach the end of the Echerntal.
Once there, you can already feel the spray from the thundering waterfalls that plunge over 50 metres into the depths.
After a short ascent, you reach one of the most beautiful places around the World Heritage town of Hallstatt.
Take your time to enjoy the breathtaking panorama, try to forget the so often stressful everyday life and take your strength and energy from the falling water masses at this place.
