Description

The Hochwurzen Höhenweg from the Ursprungalm to the Hochwurzen is one of the most popular alpine tours in the Schladminger Tauern.

For the biggest part of the hike you have the Dachstein massif directly in front of you.

The Giglachseen and the Brettersee are highlights along the way, as are the Schiedeck, Hochfeld and Guschen peaks.

From Hochwurzen you can take the Gipfelbahn back down to the valley - note the operating times! Path condition: Alpine hiking trail over alpine meadows and rocky sections, as well as a short section through a larch and Swiss stone pine forest.
