Description

After the St.

Georgen municipal office, turn right into Römerstraße and follow the road to the crossroads towards Wildenhag.

Turn left here and walk past the row of houses and shops until you are back on Attergaustraße in the direction of Atterseegelangen.

After about 30 m on the right hand side there is the first Stations of the Cross on Calvary, built between 1862 and 1869, the church between 1864 and 1869.

The portals and the cross altar with the statues of Moses and Aaron were acquired from the St.

Andrä church in Salzburg, which was demolished in 1861.

The 4 church teachers (Gregory the Great, Hieronymus with Cardinal's Hat, Augustine with Heart and Ambrose with Beehive) were made in Salzburg in 1902.

The figure of St.

Gregory was stolen in 1978 and replaced by a new one in 1984.

The two pictures represent St.

Florian and St.

Leonhard.

The Way of the Cross was restored in 1982.
