Description

King's Couloir is a great run mid season.

It gets sun affected most of the year due to its aspect, but can be a treat early on a powder day, or later in the year for a consistent corn run.

It has a towering rock wall to the skier's left and has a great feel to it.

To get to King's, hike past most of D Route to the North fro Schlasman's chair once you get to the trees after Z, go a little further and drop in.

From the Bridger Hike, go through the D Route gate, past Coneheads and 6th Grade.

Drop into the mellow trees from the ridge, looking for a prominent rock face to your right.

Ski towards this rock, you will find the entrance to King's here.

Early in the season, you may have to grovel your way through this part.

Once in, you will have about 400ft of fall line skiing in a 30ft couloir.

Getting out of King's can be pretty techy.

You can head far skier's right, just above a large tree to get a ski through sneak; ski just right of fall line to get a small pinch or air to a hard right turn; or go for the King of King's exit and hit a fast gnarly double out into the Z Fan.

The double is pretty much 2 15 footers, but you have to take speed to clear rocks in the landings.

The open skiing out Z Fan is a great relief once you've gotten down King's.
