The poet Gebhard Wölfle, revered in the Bregenzerwald, lived in Bizau. The unofficial motto of the Bregenzerwald forests comes from him: "Meorehrod the Ault, meor grüoßod the Nüund blibod üs sealb and dor Hoamadtrü". ("We honor the old and greet the new and remain true to ourselves and our homeland.") This also applies to contemporary construction in the community, for which it received the ARGE-Alp main prize for modern architecture in rural areas: The jury praised the simple new buildings, which correspond to the village character. Also worth seeing are the typical "Hag" (fence) and the litter meadows in the Bizauer Moos.
