The Rabenstein climbing area is a particularly idyllic spot. The rocks are located within a fenced private area directly below the old castle ruin Rabenstein at about 680 m above sea level. (Source Ingo Neumann - Book Climbing in Carinthia and East Tyrol)

Description

The rock consists of very compact limestone, offers wall heights from 12 to 30 meters and is southeast oriented (morning sunny/afternoon shady).

The wall inclination is mostly vertical, but there are also overhanging areas here and there.

Wall climbing on holes and ledges dominates, some places also require a good foot technique.

The 70 to 80 routes in this climbing garden are all very well equipped with adhesive hooks and chain stalls.

The difficulties range from 4c to about 8a.

The best conditions for climbing can be found here from March to September.

Unfortunately it is not possible to climb when it rains, but after rainfall the compact rock dries up very quickly. (Source Ingo Neuman - Book Climbing in Carinthia and East Tyrol)
