Description

This is one of Tyrol’s most loved ski tours because its a relatively straightforward climb up to a 3000m peak with far stretching views at the summit.

On the way up there are not many flat sections, but also hardly any steep parts, and it's well travelled (and hence the skin track is always set and easy to follow) so it attracts a lot of ski mountaineers, experienced and novice alike.

Beginning in the Praxmar car park follow the path past “Pieps Checkpoint” keeping left of the former drag lift building.

Follow the unused ski slope up to around 2000m where you cross over a depression and then continue up a steeper slope climbing in serpentines to a wide ridge at 2860m.

There's then a flatter section west of the summit of Zischgeles.

Head over the east ridge to the summit.

The view from the top is wonderful and offers a panorama across some famous mountain ranges including the peaks of the Ötztal to the west and the Stubai mountains to the south.

Even closer are the famous mountains above Kühtai (Austria's highest ski area) which are home to some wonderful ski tours, all described in FATMAP. Having soaked in the panorama and picked up a selection of adventures to add to the to-do list, it's time to descend.

To descend head down north through the Satteljoch and down a steep east slope until you eventually hit your ascent track.

Follow this back to Praxmar. **Sources** https://www.tourentipp.com/de/touren/Zischgeles-Skitour_125.html https://www.outdooractive.com/de/route/skitour/innsbruck-und-umgebung/skitour
