Description

Angry Pirate (followed by other trails, like Devil’s Club, lower down the mountain) provides an absolutely rocking tech-filled ride down through Whistler’s Fitzsimmons Zone.

This trail combination provides an incredible mix of different riding styles, all in one run.

If you’re tired of going big on the tabletop jumps and want to introduce a little gnar into your life, head for Angry Pirate! Up top, Angry Pirate begins with a tight, twisty section through rooty trees—a nice change of pace from the high-speed trails in the park.

Soon, the roots disappear as the trail descends through a section of tight, steep berms punctuated by small drops—a surprisingly flowy section for a tech trail.

All too soon the flow is gone, replaced by steep rock rolls, ledge drops, kicker rock drops, and more.

The sight lines through most of the drops are excellent, allowing a confident rider to send most of the drops on their first run through. The next section of Angry Pirate is rated as an intermediate run, with the grade lessening and the trail dropping through more root webs in a deep, dark forest. Lower down on Devil’s Club, the roots continue, but long stretches of wooden bridges provide an entertaining ride through the damp wetlands deep in the forest.

While nothing is exceptionally challenging about these bridges, rolling fast over the woodwork is an absolute hoot! You can’t just do one run down Angry Pirate… you’ll be back for more! On subsequent runs, choose Ho Chi Min, Afternoon Delight, or Polp Fiction for some variety on the last half of your run.
