Description

Norwegian summit-to-sea skiing at its best: Every meter of skiing right down to the sea is good.

This route up to Finnkjerka is pretty straightforward.

Work your work through the steps in the low-angle section, then tackle the summit slope from a ridge-feature.

But beware: I rate this complex terrain.

This is a big slope at 35 degrees (and in places more), and good snow stability is required, as the whole group will be exposed while ascending this slope.

Often you may find it easier to boot-pack.

The rocky summit block requires some scrambling.

The ski descent is fall-line skiing right down to the road at sea level.

Arnøya is ski touring paradise, also due a lack of vegetation in the lower elevation bands.

So no bush skiing anywhere here.

This is one of my favourite runs in Norway, but I treat it with respect due to the big summit slope.

For access you will need a car (via Skjervøy and ferry to Lauksundskaret).

Arnøya has season worth of skiing, so consider staying at Lauksletta Overnatting (https://www.facebook.com/LaukslettaOvernatting/).
