Description

Mount Princeton is one of the 15 14ers in the Sawatch Range.

Princeton rises abruptly out of the Valley of the beautiful Buena Vista. The trail for most begins at the lower 2wd trailhead as marked on this route.

Past that, the road requires a high clearance 4x4 vehicle.

The road is very narrow, rutted out, and has portions of major exposure.

Do not attempt if uneasy with such conditions.

Once you have made it to the turn off of the road to the trail, it is primarily traversing the slope till you gain the ridge and make your summit bid.

Many do not appreciate that the majority of this hike is on rocks, but I did not mind it, and find it kind of fun boulder hopping around! The summit is absolutley gorgeous, giving views of various 14ers and into the valley of Buena Vista.
