Description

Easy riding, fabulous views and one of the most picturesque and friendly huts in Tirol; there isn't much to dislike here! The trip starts from the Schrnazberg parking area which can often be busy in the height of summer but there's an overflow area slightly further on so you'll always be able to find somewhere to park.

You have to pay a couple of Euros to park but it's a small price to pay for access this convenient. Ride out of the carpark and then double back left onto a gravel track.

Follow this as it climbs at a satisfying but never overly steep angle towards the Naviser Hut and the Stöcklalm.

There are a few junctions but there are always signposts and navigation - especially when you're armed with FATMAP - should be easy throughout. The track goes in and out of the trees but mainly stays in them on the way to the Naviser Hut (which is wonderful itself and well worth a visit) but virtually all of the final climb up to the Stöcklalm is out in the open.

On a hot summer day this can feel pretty brutal but keep grinding because it's only 15 minutes or so from the Naviser Hut to the Stöcklalm.

The very last section to the hut is very steep but your exertions will quickly be forgotten when you arrive and see the fantastic panorama across the Navis valley which the hut enjoys. Like most mountain huts around here, the Stöcklalm serves wonderfully rich food and a selection of cold drinks.

With only a downhill ride still to come, you don't need to worry about feeling too full so gorge away! Suitably satisfied, descend back down the same way to the parking area.
