Description

Although this run is short, it offers a good alternative route through the Blumental, cutting off the flat section in the middle of the Hindenburg piste.

The red grading is generous and only really applies to the section by the rustic Suppenalp mountain restaurant. After the long traverse along the side of the Schiltgrat ridge, take a sharp right once you're in the Blumental bowl, almost doubling back on yourself.

From here a wide run awaits, which drops off quite steeply to the left hand side of the slope.

After a couple of hundred metres you will reach the excellent Suppenalp restaurant.

This is not one for a sunny day in the middle of winter as the mountains keep it in the shade for most of December and January, but it is perfect for a snowy day and serves great food.

After the restaurant is a steep but short pitch that you can have no fear of straight-lining as there is an uphill stretch immediately after.

The final section before it rejoins the main Hindenburg piste can get icy and scraped if snow conditions are poor, so take care to not pick up too much speed as it can be tough to scrub it off in time.
