Description

A new addition to the piste map in 2013, the Buckelpiste (which translates literally as "Bump Piste") offers 300 vertical metres of big bumps, all down a steep and shady slope.

A couple of sections can grow some serious moguls, particularly following a lean period of snowfall.

Note that it is best to avoid this run early in the season as there are some very rocky sections that require a good deal of snow cover before the sharks are covered up. From the Birg cable car station bear right on to the right-hand Engetal piste (number 11) and turn off to the left about 20m after this run starts.

From here the run is consistently steep and bumpy.

Big bumps form a few days after fresh snow and with the Riggli chair right above - so try to make sure you don't mess up! Once you cross the blue run there is a deceptively flat section before the slope really dives away down the final pitch.

Watch out for hidden rocks as the slope steepens, but then be ready for a fantastic run of well-spaced moguls or, after fresh snow, some great powder turns.

You then rejoin the main piste for the run in back to the Riggli chair. If you're looking to push yourself then attempt the run without stopping - your thighs will be burning by the end!
