Description

The Tschuggen run starts from Kleine Scheidegg and begins an undulating and easy thoroughfare towards the Honegg/Arven/Eigernordwand lift stations.

There is one very steep pitch which has a roped off speed check section, and for early intermediates it is advisable to take the route to the right as this skirts the steep section.

The run then flattens out and opens up down towards the lift stations.

To continue on this run you have to stay to the left in quite a long traverse crossing a couple of the runs coming down from the Honegg chairlift.

You then start to drop into the trees into what is an excellent section; full of differing steepness and especially good during poor visibility due to the trees either side of the run.

It continues down and if you make a left you can go up the Tschuggen T-Bar and access the Männlichen side of the mountain.

However, if you want to continue all the way down to Grund, there is some fantastic cruising to be had through the trees.

The snowmaking on this lower section means it is generally reliable but you cannot go off piste into the trees as there is a wildlife protection zone there.

The lowest section is through alpine meadows and among the many alpine huts, while it may be worth stopping off at one of the bars - especially the Holzer Bar which is near the bottom.

You then join with #3 to return to the Grund - Männlichen gondola station.

A great run for getting in some serious vertical metres as it is normally deserted.
