Description

Two gentle beginner slopes split from the top of the newly refurbished Allmendhubel Poma, accessed via the historic Allmendhubel Funicular out of town.

Although short in length, the runs are the perfect places to learn on once you progress from the nursery slopes in town.

With a sunny orientation, impressive views and an excellent mountain restaurant in the middle, Allmendhubel is the perfect place to base yourself with young children, or simply if you're wishing to improve your technique before tackling the Bob-Run (piste 6) back down to the village.

Despite facing the sun, both slopes are very snow-sure thanks to comprehensive snowmaking and immaculate grooming.

When you come out of the Funicular, make a bee-line for the large sign straight ahead and clip in to your skis or board.

From here it's a quick few turns down to the bottom of the lift, which whisks you up to the top in little over a minute.

From here there are two slopes either side of the Poma, with the one on skiers left usually holding on to the corduroy for the longest.

This is where Ski School meets (classes 2-6), so be aware that between 9.30 and 11.30 the lift queue can be quite lengthy - especially during the peak weeks around New Year and February half term.

Do note that absolute beginners should stick to the village nursery slopes as there is one slightly steeper section half way down the piste on skier's right of the Poma.
