Description

The Engetal pistes are amongst the most popular in resort thanks to their width and usually excellent snow.

Both are the perfect place to improve your carving turns or simply to gain confidence on long blues and get some miles under your belt. Both are accessed straight out of the Mürren-Birg cable car station and are served by the Riggli fast chair.

From the main exit you can either bear left or right; left gives you a longer and wider run, but right is slightly steeper and often deserted.

If you head left a long traverse, recently widened to make it easier for beginners, leads to the resort's widest slope that rolls its way through the shady Engetal valley.

The best time to catch it is during the afternoon once the sun has got up - it will be a great deal warmer and visibility will be far better.

Heading right results in a narrower run, but also one that is usually exceptionally well groomed and empty.

This rejoins the main piste half way down so can add some nice variety to your skiing. Lapping this is a great way to clock up some miles and get your legs warmed up before attempting either the Schilthorn above or Kanonenrohr below.
