Description

Hike to the obvious col immediately above the top the Grattalu lift and pick your way through the tight chutes off the backside.

Be careful of rocks and windslabs through this short, technical section.

Traverse to skier’s right across the slope below the Aiguille du Chardonnet, before removing your skis to climb to the small peak at the north end of the ridge.

You must be extremely confident in the snowpack stability as you’ll be extremely exposed both on the traverse and the climb should the slope avalanche.

From the top there is a choice of a couple of wide open rolling valleys, swooping back to the bottom of the Grand Huit chair.
