Description

Take the bus from Morzine up the Vallee de la Manche towards L'Erigne.

Climb the trail to La Mouillette and continue onwards to the Chalets de Ciudex.

Ascend to the Col d'Angolon (there is often a large cornice here, so be swift) and climb the southeast ridge to the summit of the Pointe d'Angolon at 2,090m.

To descend the east face, ski down the northeast ridge a short way to the start of the second couloir.

It is broad at the beginning but narrows gradually with a steepness of up to 45°.

Beware of the time of day and sharky rocks on this sunny east face.

Make a short but exposed traverse to the right and then continue down a few meters before you reach a vertical section of ice that requires an abseil.

Remember to bring a 60m rope and necessary equipment to build an anchor.

Continue down the remaining slope to rejoin the ascent route.
