Description

You start your hike on a very well-defined trail that is very easy to walk.

You will have to step over roots and rocks as you get further into the hike, but it is mostly a dirt trail until it opens up in the valley.

You will walk across some rock fields where the footing is tricky and slowly gain elevation.

There is lots of water from the creek, which adds to the alpine experience.

As you are at the base of Pocaterra ridge, you will see where you need to get to.

There are some sections along the climb at the beginning that are steep and have a steep drop down on the grass alpine meadow slope.

The climb is on a mix of dirt, rock, and grass.

The trail is very fine dirt, and is very slippery.

When you can stay off it, choose to hike up the grass area for better grip and safety.

The ridge, depending on how far you want to walk, is a decent width where you can sit and enjoy lunch and the views.
