The snow quality can often be better on Gnat's Eye than it is on upper Deer Hollow.
The slope is also less steep, making this the easiest way down from the top of Little Baldy Peak.
Skiers who find too much challenge on the upper pitch of Fairview have the option of going left to Gnat's Eye for an easier way down.
From the top of Little Baldy, go down Deer Hollow and turn sharply right onto a narrow but relatively flat track for Gnat's Eye.
Then turn sharply left at the nest junction.
At the bottom of Gnat's Eye, skiers have the choice of staying right down Deer Hollow, or watch for uphill skiers and continuing across Deer Hollow to take Little Stick back to Snow Park Lodge.
