Description

There are two ways to access this line: Breckenridge Ski Resort and Copper Mountain Parking Lot.

Breckenridge Ski Resort: You will start from the Peak 6 Hike and follow the route to the Peak 5 Gate, then enter through the gate to the Summit of Peak 5.

From there you have two options, ski the line from the top or down climb the rocks.

Please be aware of the cross loading at the top of the line.

It can be very wind loaded, and sometimes it is just not worth the extra turns.

Also understand when down climbing the rocks, there is not a set route.

Once you start to enter the tree line, you will have options skier's left, and skier's right.

Each options depends on how the snow has blown in.

This line is much flatter than it looks from the highway, however, the hardest part is the entry.

After you have chosen your option, you will enjoy over 2000 vertical feet of turns to the bottom.

The route out leads you to a bridge that crosses over the Ten Mile Creek.

If you are taking the bus, the stop will be by the entrance of Copper Mountain Ski Area.

Copper Mountain Parking Lot: The most popular parking lot is the Alpine Lot, you will to cross the road and walk North to the open lot across the street.

If parking is an option here, you can simply park at this lot.

Now find the nearest bridge to cross and follow the route up into the line.

It is a mellow skin, but be aware people coming down the line.

Unless the snowpack is very stable, it is usually not worth it to Summit Peak 5.
