Description

Beyond Wonderbowl there are a few chutes that are rarely, if ever, open.

Black Rock Traverse is the first of these.

Like every run on the West Basin Ridge, it's steep and rugged.

Black Rock and the others begin considerably further down the final shoulder of the West Basin Ridge and therefore have considerably less vertical.

Another knock against Black Rock Traverse is that it comes out below Lift 2.

To get back up to the top of the mountain you first have to ski down to Lift 8.

On the other hand, if you get into Black Rock, you'll be able to say you've skied something very few people have.
