Description

This couloir requires a bit of effort to reach and it's not that easy to navigate once inside.

There are some small cliffs to jump but it gives a nice skiing day, although it's not for beginners! From Pizzo Groppera ski down the Caurga piste until you reach the nets.

Leave the slope and follow the clearly defined ridge that goes towards Monte Mater.

Follow the ridge for about 1 kilometre, going down and up, until you are under the peak.

Continuing on the ridge would require some mixed climbing pitches so go on your left and traverse the slope (ice axe and crampons required).

Traverse for about 300 metres then start climbing up the evident couloir until the top.

Ski down the same line you climbed for the first few meters, then follow the line of the couloir.

It has the shape of a double S, so ski down a little on the left first then more on the right.

You will reach a first traverse which is exposed and over a cliff.

Traverse hard to the right and ski down, bypassing this cliff.

Now the couloir is more evident and there's no way to miss it.

Follow its line until reaching a second cliff which is small (1-2 metres maximum) so you can easily jump it or put on your crampons and down climb it.

After this cliff the couloir widens up and ends near the bottom of the Canalone.

I suggest checking out the line from the lift; it is easily visible, so you can check snow coverage.
