Relatively approachable for most riders, except for one massive rock garden in the middle.

Description

Captain Jack gets a double black diamond rating from the bike park… but in reality, most of the trail isn’t all that difficult.

The majority of the trail is a rocky, rooty romp through the deep forest down the flank of Mount Crested Butte. The rating comes from one massive rock garden located smack in the middle of the trail.

This long, steep, burly cascade of rocks requires full commitment.

Once you’ve dropped into this line, it’s almost impossible to stop until you get to the bottom.

There are a number of lines through the rocks of varying difficulties, and the easiest line can be rolled the entire way.

However, the straightest and fastest line requires launch some 4-5 foot drops, landing on point, and then blasting right back into the boulder field.

No joke! Compared to the Psycho Rocks, the other double black diamond tech line in the Evolution Bike Park, Captain Jacks isn’t nearly as awkward, gnarly, or massive.

That said, the crux rock garden on this trail isn’t to be sneered at!
