Description

Along with Hotdogger, this run is one of the easiest beginner trails in the Crested Butte Bike Park.

While you will find some flow features lower down this trail, the upper section of this run is, instead, classic two-way singletrack. Primer begins directly from the top of the lift but is marked as a two-way mountain bike trail.

Consequently, the feel of this singletrack is more old school on its way down.

Some riders may appreciate this, while others won’t like having to brake as much and be as aware of uphill riders and abrupt changes in the trail.

You’ll also encounter small rocks and roots, but all of the obstacles can be easily overcome. Soon, this run drops into Awakening, which leads to Downtime.

Both of these trails are downhill-only mountain bike trails, with flow-style features.

Here, you’ll find low berms to maximize the flow and some small rollers that you can pop off of to get air. Between both Hotdogger and Primer -> Awakening, beginner riders can have an absolute blast riding the lifts at Crested Butte bike Park—something that can’t be said for all of the bikeparks in Colorado.
