Description

This is a really easily accessible route here in Hintertux, but it's only possible with good weather conditions and a safe avalanche report.

You also need a lot snow to avoid slipping into crevasses.

The line starts on top of the 10er Gefrorene Wand gondola.

You need to go to the left when you exit the top station.

First of all you need to shift over a flat part for 200 metres, and before a wide hill appears, you go to the left immediately down to the Fernerhaus.

The hill is gets steeper and steeper here, but it's still very wide and on the left it's steeper than on the right.

You just have to go straight down in the direction of the Fernerhaus.

At the end, where it gets flat you may need to go more to the left and go back to the slope, because there isn't always enough snow to go down directly from here.

This route is short but intense and you can do it very often in a short space of time.

Be aware of avalanches, because the width makes it look flatter than it really is.

You are on a glacier so make sure you are equipped, prepared and have practised crevasse rescue, however unlikely you think falling in a crevasse is- it is possible! A minimum would be axe, crampons, an ice screw, a 30m rope, prussiks, several screwgates, a pulley and a couple of slings.

A more modern simple solution might be a Petzl RAD system.
