Description

After either hitching a ride up Kosciuszko chair, head south-west following the wide shallow valley of the Snowy River.

From the top of the chair you will be able to see the summit in the distance.

Traverse along the terrain to the South-West for approximately 3 kilometres, then turn due west and skin to the bottom of the spur which leads up to Kosciuszko after crossing the Snow River, which most likely will be covered in snow.

Follow the terrain up to the spur, and make sure to keep to the skier's right as you will be able to see cornices formed on the south eastern side of the spur.

Follow the spur up and then cut across to Rawson Pass, before climbing the prominent summit.

There are a number of trails and old roads in the area, later in the season when cover is broken, these may be a better option.

Overall this route will take around 5 hours depending on levels of fitness.
