Description

The Triple A falls west off of Twynam's summit cairn, and follows three drainage gullies which drop down to Watson's Creek.

Although the ridge lines in between these gullies hold a better fall line and are steeper, the gullies will be the best chance of catching some fresh soft snow, the ridges in between them are best left for the spring corn.

The gullies of The Triple A are all fairly obvious and hold the snow well, from the summit of Twynam head north west and after peering over the (very steep) edge, you will see the three gullies of the Triple A to the left, with the Scimitar to the right.

Pick any out of the three and head on down, and take note of the rock faces which can lead to some drops through the upper gullies.

When icy these runs are treacherous so really do assess snow conditions before you head out, as well as avalanche potential.

As these runs do face NW, they catch the sun, so these do take a while to fill in as a result of the prevailing westerlies and exposure.

Watch out for the creek opening up near the bottom later in the season, but these runs can be truly incredible when conditions are right.

For the run out, follow the Watson's Creek return back up to the saddle between Tenison Woods Knoll and Twynam.
