Description

Unlike the well known Church, The Saddle is a well kept secret.

Every time you look at the ridge between Lincoln Peak and Castlerock you see it, though many people don’t know the name or if it’s skiable.

This line begins just beyond The Church with a long downhill traverse.

As the name implies, The Saddle is located at the low point of the ridge.

You may need to go uphill a bit before it opens up.

Now the fun begins, a long consistent fall line down a river drainage.

The moving water prevents trees from growing, making a skiable chute in the winter when it fills in.

Ski the fall line down to Bailout and follow it to a lift.

The Saddle is a locals line and can stay untracked for days after storm.

But be warned, this line is not easy to find and following other people’s tracks can get you lost.

If you don’t know where you are going, it’s best to hire a guide or get a local to show you the way.
