Description

Reverse your descent route of yesterday, climbing back up under the Vincent Pyramid and towards the Col de Lys.

Pass to the L of the Balmenhorn with its obvious bivi hut.

Head for the very short snowy crest, that takes you with minimal difficulty to the summit of the Ludwigshohe.

Although relatively undistinguished, it has a huge drop to the E and the views down to the Italian plains are breath-taking.

Retrace your steps down this, now pass to the L and to the foot of the obvious snowy or icy 45 degree slope, leading to the Corno Nero.

Climb this and scramble over easy rocks to meet the summit Madonna.

Once again retrace your steps and, if you want, you can, in addition, tag the minor summit of the Balmenhorn, climbing a few iron rungs on the E side.

It has a large Madonna and a sweet bivi hut, which you can put your nose into.

Descend easy snow slopes directly to the saddle between the Corno Nero and the Punta Gnifetti.

Once again ascent snow slopes, which can be icy and exposed at the top, to the easy summit of Vincent Pyramid, thus completing your trio of minor Monte Rosa summits.

The descent is retracing your steps as before, to the Gnifetti Hut.
