Description

The Hardscrabble Twin Doglegs are actually on the peak South of Hardscrabble, but many people mistakenly call it Hardscrabble, and it is misnamed on many local maps.

These lines can be seen for miles on the approach to Fairy Lake, and beg to be skied.

They don't go from the summit proper, but begin a ways down the East ridge from the top.

A quick scramble down the shale is usually required to get to the snow.

The skier's right one is very wide, about 60 feet.

The Skier's left is 25 feet wide, and is a little shorter.

Both upper ramps are about 500 feet before joining for 300 feet in a small bowl.

The lines then roll off to a few different chutes.

The skier's right ones are wider, and more mellow, with steep, rocky exits directly in the fall line.

Determine your exit on the approach and find your landmarks.

Total vert on the lines is about 1300 feet.

Either ascend the line itself, or head to the back of the Summer Bowl and take the ridge to the North.
