Description

A slightly shorter day after yesterday's long day, with an option of traversing the Schnidehorn. Reverse yesterday's descent to the southwest and then to the south, toward the foot of the Tungel Glacier.

From here, your route heads to the east to the Schnidejoch saddle.

Tracks descend here and in bad weather, if you wanted to avoid the summit, this would be a good option.

But in better conditions, it is more fun to continue up the interesting ridge above.

This will involve some skinning but also probably some ski carrying to the summit of the Schnidehorn at 2937m . From the summit, ski down easily to the east, passing point 2793m.

You then get into an obvious east-facing valley.

Follow the natural line downward, with a brief kink to the south near point 2505m, to arrive at the wide open flat area of the Alpage de Rawil.

From here, it is a steady skin up, steeper at the end, to the Wildstrubel Hut at 2791m.
