Description

From the Bai de Dones car park, take track 424 on the left of the mountain lodge.

Carry on for about 15 minutes until you reach the crossroads with track 425, and take this path.

Carry on along this track which will later be marked as track 439.

After about an hour you will reach the Rifugio 5 Torri mountain lodge, from where you carry on, going around the 5 Torri, one of the most distinctive and famous rock features in the Dolomites, and continuing towards the Rifugio Scoiattoli mountain lodge, famous for its fine cuisine. Once you have reached the mountain lodge, you can stop there, or move on, hiking along the edge of the skiing piste, until you reach the Rifugio Averau mountain lodge, also famed for its excellent food.

From both the mountain lodges you have fantastic views of the 5 Torri group and mount Tofana di Rozes, while from Rifugio Averau you can also see mounts Civetta and Marmolada. For the return trip, follow the same route back. The route may present some difficulties linked to the snow cover conditions and the type of terrain.

It is always advisable to seek assistance from mountain guides and to check snow and weather conditions before any trip. How to reach the starting point By car: From the centre of Cortina, take the road towards the Falzarego Pass.

Drive on until you reach the junction for the Bai de Dones car park near the 5 Torri chairlift.

By bus: From the centre of Cortina, take the bus towards the Falzarego Pass, requesting a stop at the 5 Torri chairlift car park at Bai de Dones.
