Description

At the top of Kitzbühel’s famous Hahnenkamm mountain there is a very pleasant and well-maintained footpath taking you in a loop around a few high alpine highlights.

You will pass the site of the Streif, the Alpine Ski World Cup downhill race, as well as many beautiful flowering meadows, cows, playgrounds, kids climbing walls, restaurants, and the awe-inspiring Kitzpanorama. The Kitzpanorama is a viewing platform with spectacular views of the neighbouring Wilder Kaiser Massif and the Kitzbüheler Horn mountain.

On a clear day, you will also be able to see all the way to the glaciers on the Hohe Tauern mountain.

The path starts and finishes at the top station of the Hahnenkammbahn.

You will walk in an anti-clockwise direction, coming first to the Hahnennkamm (1712m), then the Erenbahhöhe (1802m), the Pengelstein (1938m), and the Steinbergkogel (1972m).

The path is pushchair friendly and there are a few kids activities dotted along the way.

This is a very popular route, especially near the Streif, so don’t expect to be hiking alone!
