Description

This classic short hike showcases the beauty of Boquillas Canyon - beginning with a stunning clifftop view into the canyon before leading visitors to the riverside.

It's perfect for anyone visiting Rio Grande Village, and a nearby overlook of the canyon is a perfect alternative if you're not up for the hike.

It's family-friendly, easy by most standards, and can be completed in less than 90 minutes. The trailhead for the Boquillas Canyon Trail is located at the end of Boquillas Canyon Spur Road, not far from the Rio Grande Village.

There is a turnaround at the end of the road, but the parking area is small and only intended for smaller vehicles.

There are no facilities or potable water available at the trailhead. If you're up for the challenge, the [Marufo Vega Trail](https://fatmap.com/routeid/38950/Marufo_Vega_Trail) begins just minutes away along the same road.

The 13-mile circuit is significantly more challenging, but offers spectacular views of the canyon along one of its more remote stretches. Should you have the time during your visit, consider a trip to Boquillas for an afternoon of food and drinks in the quaint Mexican village.

It costs a mere $5 to be ferried across the river at the Port of Entry.
