Description

Wild Dog Trail leads through the low hills within the Bajada Scenic Loop, among especially diverse cactus forest.

The flower show in spring is brilliant, and birdwatching is good at any time of year.

Nature lovers will appreciate the subtle variations in flora and fauna along the rolling terrain. The [Park Service](https://www.nps.gov/sagu/planyourvisit/saguaro_hiking.htm) suggests, “If your group has hikers & non-hikers, the hikers could be dropped off at the beginning of the trail while non-hikers drive around the loop & pick them up at the end or at Signal Hill picnic ground.” Thus, the trail is mapped here as a one way.

It bisects the loop road, between Valley View trailhead and the turn for Signal Hill Petroglyphs.

The driver can wait for hikers at either end, and the hike can easily be combined with a stop at the petroglyphs.
