Í gilinu má lesa áhugaverða jarðfræðisögu, einnig er sagt að skessan Bóla hafi haldið sig í tilkomumiklu gljúfrinu.

Hægt er að leggja bíl við þjóðveg 1 og hefja gönguna þar eða keyra upp malarveg meðfram ánni og stytta gönguna örlítið.
