Description

County Roads 143 and 255 combine to create a long-distance mostly-gravel route crossing a wild range of rolling mountains between the towns of Canon City and Westcliffe. Portions of this route are incredibly wild, running through remote, undeveloped mountains with stunning views all around.

Once you hit Yorkville, the surroundings become progressively more developed as you head toward Westcliffe, but this is development by rural, ranching Colorado standards.

Don't expect any amenities until you make it to Westcliffe. Westcliffe is home to a couple of restaurants, gas stations, and stores, allowing you to grab lunch and refill your water before turning around and heading back to Canon City.
