Description

This concise loop is a good choice for day hikers who don’t want to take on the full Coastal Prairie Trail.

You’ll walk through much of the same sunny coastal prairie and shady buttonwood forest as you would on the longer route, but the Bayshore Loop reaches the shore of Florida Bay with much less effort.

Once at the bay, you’ll find a row of mangroves at the water’s edge, but gaps allow for some views.

Take time to admire the intricate root jumbles and the communities of aquatic life that live among them. As with other trails in the area, Bayshore Loop tends to have lots of mosquitoes.

Long pants and sleeves will shield you from the insects as well as the sun and prickly vegetation, all of which this hike has plenty of.

On a breezy winter day, it can be quite pleasant, however. Source: https://www.nps.gov/ever/planyourvisit/bayshore-loop-trail.htm
