Description

Unimaginative names appear to be a theme when it comes to trails in national parks, and the Giant Logs Trail (through the more poetically-named Jasper Forest) only reinforces this unfortunate trend.

Regardless, you know what you're in for when you hit the Giant Logs trail: big 'ole petrified logs.

In fact, "some of the largest and oldest logs in the park are found on this trail," according to [TrailheadTraveler.com](https://trailheadtraveler.com/best-day-hikes-petrified-forest-national-park/).

"'Old Faithful,' the highlight of the trail, for example is nearly ten feet wide in diameter," they continue. The trail itself is an easy half-mile ramble on a flat, non-technical trail.

Due to the very short length, this trail is accessible to just about everyone.
