Description

The Agate House and Long Logs trails can be combined to create one of the longest hikes in Petrified Forest National park.

According to [TrailheadTraveler.com](https://trailheadtraveler.com/best-day-hikes-petrified-forest-national-park/), "Long Logs has the largest concentration of petrified wood in the park while the Agate House, an ancient pueblo, is thought to have been inhabited 700 years ago!" The hike begins with a half-mile section of paved trail, but then it is unpaved after that.

The Long Logs loop spurs off of the main artery leading to the Agate House.

Consequently, you can tailor the length or the difficulty of this hike as you desire.

Please note that, as with all national parks, removal of any natural objects—especially petrified wood—is highly illegal.
