FATMAP difficulty grade
I posted this route to emphasize a few things.
1) This is not a completely safe ski tour.
IMHO, the crux of the whole thing isn't really the glacier travel but rather the steep boot pack/traverse up to Robertson Col.
This is a steep and exposed slope.
I posted a pic of it.
When I did it, our group didn't have boot crampon or ice axe.
I felt pretty exposed on this boot pack without mountaineering gear.
If if slipped, you slide a long way down to the bottom...
I would recommend boots crampons and an ice axe.
2) I'm not 100 % certain, but I think the other routes already posted might ski over some fairly large crevasses.
When we did this route, there was hardly any snow on the glacier, and the open crevasses were easy to see and avoid.
Yes they are small and probably unsubstantial but it was easy enough to avoid them.
I THINK staying skier left MIGHT BE safer, but again, I'm not certain.
See the photos I posted and form your own judgement...
3) save this one for a good visibility day.
This one is worth doing because of the views.
