Description

Gaumukh, the snout of the Gangotri glacier from where the river Bhagirathi originates, is the true source of the river Ganga.

The trek to Gaumukh Tapovan starts from Gangotri, one of the four Char Dhams.

As per the mythology, Gangotri is believed to be the place where Bhagirath worshipped Lord Shiva.

This is also believed to be the place where Mother Ganga descended the earth.  The entire valley is peaceful and offers stunning and majestic views of Mt.

Shivling, Mt.

Bhagirathi I, II, and III, Mt.Meru, Mt.

Sudarshan, etc.

After crossing the Gaumukh, in the Gangotri glacier, climb to the meadows of Tapovan and take a bow at the feet of Mt.

Shivling.

You can find your inner peace and adventure in the presence of these mighty mountains as you get closer to the center of the universe and the axis of the earth as per mythology.
