Description

We could call this the trail the queen of zug.run.

You get the best view of Zug city, Rigi and the Ageeri valley throughout the trail.

It is a varied and exciting trail with changing scenery.

It might be challenging for some as there some steep climbs and technical terrain at some points.

You can shorten the trail by turning back after 2km.

Follow this link for the short version: https://www.strava.com/routes/2760553693647105244 The start of the 12 kilometres round is the Zugerberg station you can reach the place by taking the Zugerberg train http://www.zbb.ch/ and either start by the station or just walk to the start point to warm up.

There is a distinct line of pine trees leading up towards the peak, just follow them to get started.

Most of us will start by walking as it is very steep on the first 200meters until the peak.

At the top you might want to take a moment and marvel at the 360 view panorama.

Here you get a peek of the Alps, the Aegeri valley, Rigi and an impressive overview of the canton of Zug.

When you are ready, continue towards the south, first, you go alongside the edge of the forest before the trail enters the forest after a couple of hundreds of meters, going up and down in a nice flow.

After crossing the main road you face the second climb of the trail, it is a long but gentle climb going about 300meters on a wide gravel road.

Continue on the road for the next 2km, before turning left and crossing the stream.

The trail will go through various sections and cross many roads before reaching the road way back.

It goes steady towards the north with the view of the Zugerlake.

Passing Montana and the station before arriving at the starting point.

This trail is perfect in the early morning on warm summer days.
