Description

This short 4-mile loop provides the perfect hiking outing in the Las Vegas desert without any of the challenges of the more difficult trails.

The singletrack here is smooth and almost entirely bereft of rocks and technical obstacles, allowing hikers to soak in the views of the dramatic red rock cliffs in the distance. The trail passes through a forest of massive yucca plants, providing a splash of green in the otherwise desolate landscape.

But the slower you go, and the more you absorb your surroundings, the more desert life you'll notice: small birds fly from bush to bush, prairie dogs and lizards scurry across the sandy desert floor, and much more. As you round the loop, your perspective of the towering red rock cliffs will continue to change, providing new angles and vistas.

This hike is thankfully much lesser-traveled than the ultra-popular trails found in Red Rocks Canyon Conservation Area, and the views are almost as good! Do note that this is a very popular mountain bike area, so anticipate sharing the trail with your two-wheeled brethren.
