Description

From Cwm Porth you follow the Afon Mellte downstream, passing through woodland and meadows to a viewpoint overlooking Sgwd Clun-gwyn.

From here, you follow a good path along the rim of the gorge before dropping into the gorge and behind Sgwd yr Eira.

It's a steep climb from the waterfall to join a path that takes you via moorland and woods down to Craig y Ddinas.

Shortly after this you reach Pontneddfechan, with a chance for refreshments, before a lovely section on a good quality path along the Nedd Fechan to Pont Melin-Fach, passing a number of smaller waterfalls along the way.

Between Pont Melin-Fach and Pont Rhyd-y-cnau, the path through the gorge is narrow, undulating and rough and may take longer than you expect.

From the river it's a steep climb before a delightful bridleway drops you gently back to the start.
