Description

Maja Rosit is considered as the best peak to get a view in the Accursed Mountains.

This peak is situated in Montenegro, however most of the ascents are done from Valbona through Fusha e Gjese. I did it starting from Valbona, and it was absolutely stunning! Although being already beginning of November, luckily I had no snow and a little bit of sun on the top. For starting I would recommend parking your car in Valbona directly, there is also a starting point with a short description.

The walk from Valbona to Maja Rosit goes through the half deserted village of Kukaj.

This part is very nice and easy to follow and in the mid summer you can stop at few village houses for some drinks The trail serpents through the canyon for several kilometres and it continues with a steep hike.

Just before halfway the trail enters a rocky terrain.

This part will also be the start of open views.

The moment you will step over the treeline there is another and also the last mountain hut, where the owners are very happy to have you.

They offer a variety of drinks and also the option to sleep in the hut.

They have been there in November so I am sure you will meet them :) As you go higher the view will open to Montenegro until you reach the peak to get the view in all three countries: Montenegro, Albania and Kosovo.

It really was amazing!
