Description

Today begins with a walk towards Pilsbury and onto the High Peak Trail, once a train line that connected Buxton with Cromford.

We'll cross farmland to the village of Monyash, a delightful place to stop for lunch which also happens to be the gateway to Lathkill Dale. The walk down Lathkill Dale is one of the finest in the White Peaks, flanked by limestone cliffs, the water here literally pours out of the rock after periods of heavy rain, creating a torent of water that has carved out the landscape. A walk beside the river, surrounded by many birds and animals species is a highlight of the day and on towards the village of Over Haddon, a pretty village perched on the hillside above the dale.

The day ends in Bakewell and a chance to try the famous bakewell pudding, a well deserved treat at the end of your day.
