Description

We leave Buxton passing Solomons Temple reaching the Axe Edge Moor surrounding Chrome Hill.

The second half of the day follows the beautiful upper Dove Dale, the county boundary with Staffordshire and have the chance to enjoy the relative quite of this lesser visited vallye.

A detour to Longnor, the location for the TV series ‘Peak Practice’ is possible and provides a charming place to stop for lunch, there is an option to take the bus into Hartington from here.

Alternatively we continue along the upper reaches of the River Dove, past the site of Pilsbury Castle, once a Norman structure built to control the upper reaches of the Dove.

After a short climb for beautiful views across the valley we descend into the quaint village of Hartington.Good walking boots are essential, walking poles are optional.
