Description

Erwin Park is the centerpiece of mountain biking in the McKinney, Allen, and other northern Dallas suburbs.

Just a quick drive from the main highway, fast and winding singletrack maintained by DORBA offers a little bit for everyone, no matter what you're into.

A single loop circles the park, but also crosses the road numerous times, allowing riders the option to ride all-or-part of the 9-mile circuit.

For those who are up for the entire thing, Erwin offers hillside flow, lots of roots, and a few techy drops that will quickly have you coming back for more. While this loop may be considered moderate overall, there are several optional lines where one could take a more technical line, versus an easy ride-around.

The final portion of the ride is considered an expert section, but you can easily bypass it if you feel uncomfortable or just want to keep the ride fast.

A newer skills area within the park offers options to improve your handling and abilities near the main parking area. A public park within the confines of McKinney, restrooms are available through the warmer months, but closed from November to March.

For those looking for a similar ride, but a change in scenery on similar terrain, consider heading east to the newly improved [Sister Grove Park](https://ntxtrails.com/mtb-trails/northwest/erwin-park/).

Tucked into the hillsides of Lake Lavon, the trail system sees much less use and tends to drain better, while Erwin needs time to dry after rain. [Source](https://ntxtrails.com/mtb-trails/northwest/erwin-park/)
